Once in a while I'm compelled to do western themes. I did the pencil sketch for this one out of a series of cowboys and horses almost a year ago. It's painted in Photoshop, and the painting took between 3-1/2 and 4 hours.

I've been trying to to find a stylized language that is somewhat personal. Here the largely unrendered flat areas of color are the biggest departure from my usual work. I'm pretty happy with the result here.
