I had made a drawing of the main characters in my sketchbook while I was flying back home from somewhere. I liked the drawing immediately and wanted to develop it into a digital painting. Unfortunately things got busy, and I never did. Until last summer, when I had been applying some newly learned Photoshop paiting techniques that I was eager to try with this image.

I first added the dungeon setting, and the monsters. I liked the idea of these adventurers finding themselves in a bind right at the edge (entance/exit) of the dungeon. I thought the lighting challenge was interesting and could make for a great image. At first glance the painting satisfies my vision for it, but it doesn't hold up to any serious scrutiny in my opinion. The monsters and the fire just don't seem to be in the same room with the two figures.

All feedback is welcome.
